We put around 35 ewes to the ram in mid-September for late February and early March lambing. The ewes are outwintered and, in the last few weeks before lambing, they have haylage and a steadily increasing (but modest) amount of concentrates (0 - 3/4 kg). A few days before lambing small groups of ewes come into the barn overnight and lamb there or outside during the day. The ewes go out in batches a few days after lambing with haylage and a small amount of concentrate supplement for 2-3 weeks.
Our butcher's lambs normally go off the farm in batches from late May till early July. Ram lambs are sold between 45 and 48 kg and ewe lambs between 40 and 44 kg.
